If you live in Columbus and follow the food scene, you’ve probably heard about some changes afoot at the North Market, home of our first-ever scoop shop.  With a major renovation in progress, a relocation of a handful of merchants, including us, is just getting underway.

We’ve moved our scoop shop from the west side of the Market to the east side, right across from the Greener Grocer. As of today, we are open for business at the new spot.

To mark the occasion, we’re celebrating with a $1 Cone Party, hosted by Jeni. Please join us from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at our new location of our shop inside the Market. One-dollar cones in any flavor will be available to one and all, and if you wear anything Jeni’s (buttons, T-shirts, hats, etc.) your $1 cone is no longer a buck — it’s free!

What will you order? There are many more options today versus the first day of business in 2002, when  Jeni was making (and serving) almost everything right behind the counter. As the years have gone by, the menu has expanded along with the company, which today includes 14 shops (with another on the way next month in Atlanta).

Here’s the original menu from 2002:

Of course, some of those flavors remain today, including Salty Caramel, which is still Jeni’s most-popular flavor. Want a cone of it for $1 (or free if you sport that Jeni’s merch?) Come join us between 4 and 7 Friday the Market.

And if that day doesn’t work for you, the hours of the shop in its new location remain the same:

  • Sunday: noon to 5 p.m.
  • Monday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday-Friday: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Without the North Market, there would be no Jeni’s. Your support of the Market, one the Midwest’s cultural gems, means the world to us.
